ReplyI'm totally for mixed use. I'd like something that *I* could move into- not just the wealthy yuppies or whatnot. Good luck with that happening though.
If a community house is the same thing as a community center then i'm for that too, and have suggested that sort of thing many times.
I think a small 1 or 2 screen movie theater (doesn't have to be The Latest movies, either), bowling, shuffleboard, extended sort of senior center activities, ballroom or line dancing/lessons, but not- please not- a game room full of nasty-sounding arcade games.
have a small stage and offer it up for local kids/adults to practice their music- and have it open for 'cafe nights' or afternoons. groups sign up to rent the space for a few hours. open to public to go listen- have wifi available. My son used to play music with some others, but they lacked space anywhere to practice. They essentially dropped it all and just practiced on their own in their own rooms at home, and never had the opportunity to set up together. Some of these places within a community hall would be a good place for HSers and recent HS grads to get a job too. -

ReplyMany of those place are still vacant while maybe a couple have been filled. Fiesta Mexican Restaurant, for example, is about a month old. I don't know exactly how long they have been vacant.
