Sharon's SAT Scores Rank First in Region  With a combined SAT score of 1775, Sharon ranks first out of 48 schools south of Boston, according to data released by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education published by the Boston Globe.  Sharon ranked first out of 48 schools with a score of 1775, while Brockton ranked last with a score of 1289. Sharon Health Department Reminds Residents Dogs Not Allowed on Beaches The Sharon Health Department this week reminded residents that dogs and other animals are currently prohibited on the town's beaches. Article 28 of the Sharon Board of Health prohibits dogs, horses and other pets at Veteran’s Memorial Park and Beach and the Community Center Beach from April 15 through Oct. 15 of every year. The intent of the regulation is to protect the health, safety and well-being of the public and users of both beaches, said Sharon Health Administrator Bridget Sweet. Sharon Runner Responds to Marathon Bombing Suspect's Capture Friday, April 19, marked a day of tension and, ultimately, relief for thousands across the Commonwealth. That went especially for residents of Watertown and several Boston communities, who remained in lockdown for most of the day, until authorities eventually captured Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of two suspects thought to be involved in last week's bombing at the Boston Marathon. Fire Crews Extinguish Two-Garage Fire on High Street, More News from Around the Region

SHARON  Sharon Fire Department Contains Garage Fire on High Street  The Sharon Fire Department responded to a call at a High Street home Tuesday, after receiving reports of a fire in a two-car garage. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire in the garage, approximately 20 feet from the house. One car and three motor cycles were in the garage, along with one other vehicle just outside the garage. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the garage and vehicles, according to reports. The Canton Fire Department assisted with extinguishing the blaze. SHARON Sharon Ultimate Disc Team Headed to Northeastern Regional Championship Sharon High School's ultimate disc team is headed to the USA Ultimate Northeastern Regional Championships in Fort Devens next month. The team will join a group of others from schools in the northeast as part of the open division. Loud and Clear: Sharon Hears 'Taylor's Message' For Kathi and Chris Sullivan, nearly every day of their lives is a struggle. Chris, a former New England Patriot who won the Super Bowl with the team in 2001, faces a constant struggle with alcohol and drug addiction and anxiety. For Kathi, she must relive her teenage daughter's tragic death every time she delivers her message - Taylor's Message - to a crowded gym or auditorium full of high school students. The husband and wife from Plainville travel around to area high schools giving their testimonials about the dangers of underage drinking, drug abuse and making poor choices. SHARON: Woman Helps Run Girls Soccer Club in Haiti What began as a 10-day trip to Haiti in 2011 for Taryn Silver turned into a new home and about 50 new friends. Silver, a former Sharon resident, helps run the Association Sportives des Jeunes Filles de Fond des Blancs (The Sports Association of Young Women of Fond des Blancs), a girls soccer club in the rural town of Fond-des-Blancs, about 70 miles west of the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince. Silver moved to Haiti in 2012 to work for the St. Boniface Haiti Foundation in Fond-des-Blancs. It was there where she met Andover native Molly Klarman who had started the club last year. Two Hospitalized After Car Flipped on South Walpole Street Two men were hospitalized Thursday morning after their car flipped and landed on its roof on South Walpole Street in Sharon. According to Sharon Deputy Fire Chief Richard Murphy, the vehicle hit "a tree, a rock, a big tree and landed on it’s roof.” One of the men was taken to the Rhode Island Trauma Center in Providence. A medical helicopter was called out and then cancelled due to the weather.
