Incumbent withstands write-in campaign.
Sharon Selectman Richard Powell withstood a write-in campaign to win re-election to a third three-year term Tuesday. According to unofficial results from Tuesday's annual election, Powell received 795 of the 1,187 votes cast for selectman at the Sharon High School polls. Michael O'Shea launched a write-in campaign for the office recently. There were 392 total write-in votes, according to the unofficial results. O'Shea's share of that was unclear Tuesday night. Michael O'Shea joins incumbent Richard Powell in running for the office.
Michael O'Shea says he would bring "the ability to listen to everybody and to make an informed decision" to the Sharon Board of Selectmen. O'Shea is running a write-in campaign for the three-year term on the board at Tuesday's annual town election. Incumbent Richard Powell is the lone selectman candidate on the ballot. The Sharon High School polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Quincy Police sergeant and Sharon native, O'Shea says that "I've been telling my wife for a long time, 'I'm eventually going to run for something.'" He adds that "I've always been interested in the board of selectmen." O'Shea says timing affected his decision to run a write-in campaign this spring. He recently finished his Juris Doctorate at the Western …

Richard Powell says 'I plan to get the word out' to voters about his own candidacy.
Incumbent Sharon Selectman Richard Powell says Michael O'Shea's new write-in campaign for selectman at Tuesday's annual town election is "part of the process." Powell had been unopposed for re-election to a third three-year term. In a post Thursday night on Sharon Patch's Facebook page, O'Shea said he's running "because I am extremely concerned and very disheartened by the recent treatment of the various groups of town employees, specifically with regard to unilateral changes made to their health insurance." Powell said today that "I plan to get the word out" to voters about his own candidacy. "I think it's important to get out there," said Powell, the chief of staff for state Sen. Cynthia Creem (D-Newton). "I have a body of work. I think …
