President Obama Picks Kerry as Secretary of State Choice

President Barrack Obama announced John Kerry is his choice to be Secretary of State Friday.

  If President Barack Obama has his way, Massachusettts Senator John Kerry will be replacing Hilary Clinton as Secretary of State, according to a Huffington Post report. Obama nominated Kerry for position Friday after much speculation that the Massachusetts senator was his choice for the position. If Kerry is appointed, an interim senator will be named to the position before a special election can be held. There is also speculation that Senator Scott Brown (R-Wrentham) will run for the senate after losing the general election in November to Elizabeth Warren. A Vietnam War veteran, Kerry has served on the Foreign Relations Committee for 27 years and has been the chairman for the last six years. "He is not going to need a lot of on-the-job …

Sharon Resident Among Massachusetts Delegates to Democratic National Convention

Sam Liao was elected during Saturday's Massachusetts Fourth Congressional District Caucus.

Sam Liao says the first ballot listing him as a Sharon Democratic Town Committee candidate was memorable. "I have this ballot with my name and 11 other people on the right-hand side of the ballot. And on the left-hand side of the ballot it says, 'Vote for', 'Hillary Clinton' and 'Barack Obama'," Liao says. "I can say 'I was on the same ballot as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.' It's a fun thing." This September, Liao will help Massachusetts Democrats shape the national party's policy. Saturday, Massachusetts' Fourth Congressional District Democratic Caucus elected nine people, including Liao, as delegates to the Democratic National Convention, set for the week of Sept. 3 in Charlotte, N.C.
