Two-Alarm Fire at Canton Home The cause of a two-alarm fire that ignited at a home on Chapman Street in Canton Tuesday night was the result of an accidental electrical issue, Canton Fire Chief Charles E. Doody said Wednesday. The fire broke out around 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, and caused fire damage to a basement electrical room. The two occupants who own the home were displaced as a result of the fire, though there were no injuries, Doody said. Sharon Police: Bottle in Mailbox Deemed Explosive Device

No damage or injures were reported in the discovery of the bottle, police said.

A suspicious bottle that was discovered in a mailbox on Mountain Street in Sharon on Wednesday was determined to be a small explosive device, but one that did not activate, according to a statement from the Sharon Police Department. Sharon Police worked with the Massachusetts State Police Hazardous Device Investigation Unit during the investigation on the device; no injuries or damage were reported as a result of the discovery of the bottle.  The matter remains under investigation by the Sharon Police Department as well as investigators from the State Police Bomb Squad assigned to the State Fire Marshal's office.
