On 9/11 Anniversary, World Trade Center Survivor Shares Poem

Sharon resident David Rubinowitz wrote 'Reflections' days after the terrorist attacks.

Exactly 10 years ago today, Sharon resident David Rubinowitz was working at Morgan Stanley, on the 74th floor of World Trade Center Tower 2. "I was at my desk when the Tower 1 was hit and made it down to the lobby level of Tower 2 when my building was impacted that Tuesday morning," says Rubinowitz, who moved to Sharon three years ago. "I wrote the poem below later that week and after 10 years I would like to share it." Reflections Mountains sway gently beneath blue skies. Reflections of America.  Icons of the World. 'A Country-Changing Act Of Destruction Touched Her Childhood'

Her daughter turned 6 days after 9/11.

People in my age bracket can tell you exactly where they were the day they heard that John F. Kennedy was shot. The memory bleeds into black and white images of the president's son, John-John, saluting his father's flag-draped coffin. JFK's death shook our country and inscribed my childhood with a communal loss. I was sitting at a desk in my fifth-grade class, when the principal announced over the loudspeaker that President Kennedy had been shot. The radio was played throughout every classroom and we listened as a distraught reporter delivered the news of the president's death. Mr. Garfield, our prim, dark-suited assistant principal, entered my room and put his arms around me to soothe my heaving sobs. Then we were sent home early to join …

Hi Elissa, I remember exactly where I was on September 11, 2001. I was at 2 Heritage Drive in Quincy on the 7th floor of my office building. I remember wondering at first: Did the planes crash into the World Trade Center in BOSTON? The information trickling in was spotty and scant.
