The Sharon High football team was greeted by an adoring crowd and police escort after their 12-3 win over Wayland Saturday.
A crowd of families and friends waited in the cold and light snow at Sharon High Saturday afternoon to get the new Division 3 Super Bowl champions. While, the title was only a couple of hours old when the Eagles, led by a Sharon police escort, pulled behind the high school gym to cheers from the families. Head coach Dave Morse was the first off the bus, clutching the MIAA Division 3 Super Bowl trophy. As each player made their way down the bus stairs, the coach hugged them and called them Super Bowl champions. This was the Eagles' first title in football and there will be a new banner going up in the gym for them.

From worst to first, the Sharon High football team completed their historic 2012 ride by beating Wayland, 12-3, in the Division 3 Super Bowl at Bentley Univeristy Saturday. A strong defensive, by an interception by Brad Schiff, and two touchdowns by Sean Asnes, led the Eagles to their first title. On the opening kickoff of the second half, Asnes flew by the Wayland kickoff team for an 82-yard touchdown and a 12-0 lead at 9:40 mark of the third quarter. Before the quarter ended, Wayland ended the shutout with a 30-yard field by Eric MacLean. Sharon was called for roughing the kicker on the play, but the penalty was given on the kickoff. Sharon, who won the Hockomock League's Davenport Division, then beat Pembroke in the Division 3 playoffs, is now on the verge of bringing home their first Super Bowl title. All the Eagles have to do in beat Wayland and head coach Dave Morse and his team's journey from the bottom to the top is completed. Congrats...Now you should be able to sell alchohol and smoke cigarettes in sharon, glad i moved outa the town when i did...some memories but, more or less seemed to be a joke. Lets all move on...n stop pitying the small town...id be more excited to hear they were re-modeling that old cinema...may sharons reputation RIP   more ›
