Snow Expected to Slicken Monday Evening Commute

Forecasters are warning the timing of an approaching snowstorm may make Monday afternoon and evening commute slippery.

There may be an inch of snow on the ground on Monday evening during the evening commute, according to forecasters at WHDH-TV.  "Don't expect a ton of snow, but a general 1-3" falls late Monday afternoon, through the evening, producing slick roads, perhaps in time for the ride home from work," writes meterologist Chris Lambert in his blog. Even though not much snow will fall, Lambert said that the snow "will create slick spots on the roads Monday evening and Monday night." The National Weather Service, meanwhile, has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Canton area effective at 1 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday. The Sharon High football team will be playing Pembroke in their first playoff game at Braintree High Tuesday night.

1. GAME DAY-The 8-3 Sharon High football team will be playing 7-3 Pembroke Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. at Braintree High in the Division 3 playoffs. The winner will earn a spot in Saturday's Super Bowl against either Westwood or Wayland. Those two teams are playing at Reading High at 5:15 p.m. 2. NOT A FAN OF THE HOCK? Going back to last year's playoff games, Pembroke is 0-3 against Hockomock League teams. The Titans lost to Oliver Ames in the playoffs last year as the Tigers went to the Super Bowl before losing to Bedford. This year, Pembroke has already lost to OA, 28-6, and Stoughton, 27-7.   1. The Cottage Street School gets a visit from WHDH-TV's Meteorologist Jeremy Reiner who will bring wealth of knowledge and experience in weather forecasting back home to New England. A native of the Berkshires, Jeremy has always been fascinated with the New England climate. Whether it was a raging nor'easter or a chilly sea breeze in April, Jeremy loved it all. So much so, that he attended Lyndon State college in Vermont where he received a B.S. degree in meteorology in 1993. 2. There's Family Literacy Roundtable at the Sharon Public Library from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. This program is open to librarians and library workers. November is Family Literacy month.
