UPDATE Feb. 21, 10:00 p.m.- Another weekend snowstorm is expected to blanket the region as forecasters are predicting Sharon could get 6-10 inches of snow Saturday and Sunday. According to WHDH meteorologist Pete Bouchard, snowfall is predicted to begin Saturday afternoon and will continue through midday Sunday. "After midnight, the storm will get a little meatier. Snow intensity will increase into Sunday morning. Heavy snow through Sunday morning. Tapering to flurries by mid afternoon on Sunday," Bouchard writes in his weather blog. In what could be the biggest snow storm New England has seen in more than two years, Sharon could be among the communities in Massachusetts to see nearly two feet of the white stuff this weekend. With the lastest forecast, the National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch for most of eastern Massachusetts including Sharon, calling it a "potential historic winter storm". Residents can expect the potential of snow falling at 3-to-4 inches per hour and wind gusts of more thsan 20 miles per hour. There's no doubt much of the state saw blizzard-like conditions throughout the day Friday, prompting several cancellations and leading Gov. Deval Patrick to ban vehicles from the roadways as of 4 p.m. Friday afternoon. So when will the storm end? White-out conditions are expected to continue into the early morning hours on Saturday, according to the WHDH forecast. The National Weather Service says the morning commute should be affected.
Winter's timeout will end Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service in Taunton on Tuesday said 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected in Southeastern Massachusetts on Wednesday. The agency has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Wednesday in the area. Thus ends the January thaw. Temperatures in the 40s and 50s, approaching 60 some days, were recorded for much of the past week. The snow should slow the Wednesday morning commute, the weather service said. A second storm is headed to the area and could make driving hazardous on Saturday.
A second storm of the week is headed toward New England and will dump more snow onto the area on Saturday. 7News meteorologists are predicting Sharon to get between 2 to 4 inches of snow in the storm that is expected to start on Saturday afternoon and spread into the early hours of Sunday. The good news is that snow removal shouldn’t be a backbreaking endeavour. CBSBoston’s Todd Gutner said the snow will be “dry and fluffy for most,” though he warned that driving could be hazardous at times on Saturday.
