Three Norwood Residents Arrested After Housebreak in Sharon

The individuals were charged with attempt to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit a crime and malicious damage to property.

Sharon Police arrested three individuals from Norwood on Monday after investigating a recently-reported housebreak on High Plain Street in Sharon.  Police received a 911 call from a resident of that road around 4:50 p.m. on Monday, May 13, according to a news release from Sharon Police on Wednesday.  "The resident was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect motor vehicle," Lt. Tilden Kaufman wrote in a statement to Sharon Patch. "A very short time later, Sharon Police Officer Richard Derry observed this vehicle operating on Edgehill Road." Derry then stopped the vehicle and after further investigation arrested Sean Winslow, 22, Corey O'Reilly, 21, and Christopher Grasso, 21, all of Norwood. All three were held overnight and …

Sharon Town Meeting Approves Lodging Tax, Medical Marijuana Moratorium Sharon's Annual Town Meeting was held Monday night in the Arthur E. Collins auditorium at Sharon High School. There were 24 articles on this year's warrant and all 24 were voted on Monday night. The only article that was shot down was Article 9 which would have imposed a local meals excise tax of .75 percent. The OA boys and girls track teams beat Sharon Tuesday afternoon.

The Oliver Ames boys' and girls' track teams swept Sharon Tuesday afternoon at Muscato Stadium.  The boys beat Sharon, 81-55 and the girls won 73-58. OA track and field will be in action again at the state coaches meet on Saturday.

Sharon Boys' Basketball Stops Oliver Ames on Senior Night

Sharon will look to secure a playoff berth on Friday when it will host Milford.

The Oliver Ames boys' basketball team was unable to secure a playoff-clinching victory on Senior Night.  The Tigers fell to Sharon, 89-71 Tuesday in a Davenport Division clash against Sharon. The Eagles, like the Tigers, were able to move within one victory of earning a playoff bid. Beating OA twice in one year was important, according to Sharon coach Bruce Jackman. "It’s a great rivalry, and for us to beat them twice in a row – I feel good for the seniors," he said. "They hadn’t beat them in three years so it was really nice to have that happen." Sharon FD Assists Stoughton With Two-Alarm Garage Fire Friday Morning

The Sharon and Stoughton Fire Department responded to a two-alarm garage fire on Wales Ave. in Stoughton Friday morning.

The Sharon Fire Department assisted the Stoughton Fire Department at the scene of a large garage fire at 21 Wales Ave. in Stoughton on Friday morning.  The call for the fire came in at 10:22 a.m. on Jan. 11. The two-alarm fire caused extensive damage to the garage, which is not attached to the nearby home. Captain Scott Breen of the SFD said the garage is considered to be a total loss.  No vehicles were parked in the garage, but personal property was stored there, Breen said. One firefighter was treated for a knee injury, but otherwise there were no other medical issues, Breen said. Flames rose high above the garage and when the fire was knocked down, heavy smoke continued to billow. Fire crews did not leave the scene until 1:25 p.m., …

Shoplifting Leads to Arrest of Stoughton and Canton Residents On Saturday, Dec. 29 Norwood Police arrested 36-year-old Christin Quattrucci of Hayward Dr. in Stoughton and 49-year-old Ergin Abaz of Fairview Rd. in Canton. Norwood Police Dispatch received a call reporting that the two were observed shoplifting at the Norwood T.J. Maxx on Nahatan Street. It was reported to the responding officers Chris Flanagan and Jared Kullich that the suspects were removing security tags from the merchandise. On scene officers spoke with the two that were still inside the store. 90-Year-Old Driver Charged With Hit and Run The driver involved in the Dec. 8 hit and run on Park Street in Stoughton, which sent a teenage boy to the hospital, has been charged, the Stoughton Police announced in a release on the Department's Facebook page Wednesday morning. Harry Minassian, 90, of 433 Lincoln St. in Stoughton, is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury; failure to stay in marked lanes; leaving the scene of property damage; and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to the release.
