5 Things Nov 14: School Council, School Committee Meet Today

Also, a Bookzilla Book Club and English as a Second Language will be held at the Library.

1. From 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. there is an English as a Second Language Group at the Sharon Public Library in the Cynthia B. Fox Community Room. 2. There is a Sharon Middle School Council Meeting from 2:30-4 p.m. and a Sharon High School School Council Meeting from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Sharon High School Library. 3. At 6:30-7 p.m. the Bookzilla Book Club will meet at the Sharon Public Library. If you're between the ages of 8 and 11 and like to read, like to talk and like to eat snacks (not necessarily at the same time) this book group is for you. Check at the Children's Circulation Desk for this month's selection and to checkout your copy. Pre-registration is preferred. 5 Things Oct 25: Academy Award winning film A Separation will be shown at the Senior Center today.

The Lakeside Gallery is open until 8:00 p.m. tonight.

  1. At 9:30 a.m. the film entitled 'A Separation' will be shown at the Sharon Senior Center. In 2012 this film won an Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film and became the first Iranian film to win the award. 2. From 1:30 - 2:15 p.m. it's Pre-K Story Time at the Sharon Public Library. Storytime and craft for ages 4 - 5. This weeks theme is Halloween. Pre-registration is required. Also today: A showing of the film "War Horse" will be held at the Senior Center.

1. At 9:00 a.m. and again at 5:15 p.m. the Sharon Senior Center will be showing the flm, "War Horse." 2. It's time for Seasonal Stories from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. Songs and Simple Art for FALL at the Sharon Public Library. Miss Carol from Self Help, Inc. will be here to offer a seasonal gathering about autumn, with fall related songs, stories, and simple art. Ages 5 and under. Pre-registration required. 3. How about a computer tutor class 1 p.m. at the Sharon Senior Center? 4. From 1:30 -2:15 p.m. Pre-K Story Time, a story and a craft for ages 4-5. This week's theme: Owls. 1. Today is the Sharon Senior Center sold out trip to the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. Visit the website to register for upcoming events. 2. At 9 a.m., the Men's Club has a meeting at the Sharon Senior Center. 3. There will be a School Council meeting in the Sharon High School library from 3:30-5 p.m. 4. A special presentation at Sharon Middle School with CNN Hero Razia Jan who will speak from 7-8 p.m. This event is open to the entire Sharon Community. Jan is the founder of the Zabuli Education Center, a girl's school in Afghanistan. The Sharon Middle School Grade 6 open house is at 6 p.m. 4. From 6-7:45 p.m., the Sharon Public Library will host Promoting National Financial Planning Week with The Financial Planning Association of Massachusetts in the Cynthia B. Fox Community Room at the Sharon Public Library. 5. Borderland State Park offers a Mass Senior Pass for those over age 62 years old. The pass allows free parking for the vehicle occupied by the pass holder, whether they are driving or a passenger. Passes are available at all parks that charge a parking fee.

NOTE: The final date to register to vote for the Presidential Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6 is Wednesday, Oct. 17. Auditions for Sharon Middle School Play "Oklahoma" begins tonight.

   The Early Childhood Book Fair begins today and runs through Friday. 1. 9:00 am - YOGA at the Sharon Council on the Aging. After class stick around for the 10:00 am Memoir Writing Class and at 1:00 pm there's an Open Art Studio and recreational scrabble. It's a busy day at the Senior Center! 2. 2:15 pm - Sharon Middle School auditions for the school play "Oklahoma" begins today. The Sharon Education Foundation Reception will also be held tonight.

1. Today marks picture day for students at Sharon Middle School! 2. How about a T'AI CHI class? The Sharon Council on the Aging offers twoclasses in T'AI CHI at 9 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. T'AI CHI has been known to help reduce falls in the elderly based on a study which was performed over a four month period. The risks of falling were reduced by 40% as the participants relied less on their walkers and wheelchairs after learning the movement of T'AI CHI. 3.
