PHOTOS: Sharon Makes History with First Ever Hockomock Davenport Division Title

Sharon beat Foxborough, 14-7 Saturday to capture its first ever Davenport Division title and postseason berth.

Sharon High School continued its storybook season Saturday with a historic win over Foxborough. The Eagles (8-2, 3-0) captured the school's first ever Hockomock League Davenport Division title with a 14-7 victory over Foxborough (7-3, 2-2) to clinch its first ever postseason berth. "It feels great," said Sharon head coach Dave Morse. "This is the reason I came here. When I was an assistant here a couple years ago I saw the potential here in the program. When the job became open I said I wanted it and this is why. This is what I saw a couple of years ago." Sharon High Football, Pop Warner Team Up

Varsity head coach overseeing coaching development.

Sharon Pop Warner games will look a little like Sharon High School varsity ones this fall. Sharon coaches will run much of the playbook and drills used by varsity head coach Dave Morse -- Sharon Pop Warner's new board member in charge of coaching development. And a new Sharon eighth-grade team Morse is organizing will further connect the Pop Warner and high school football programs. This team will compete in a league with other eighth-grade teams from Hockomock League towns, he says. "Now, we'll have a cohesiveness from 8 years old up to 18," says Morse, who recently finished his first season at the Eagles' helm. Registration for 2012 Sharon Pop Warner, flag football, football and cheer/dance will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, …

Sharon High Football Coach has Homework to do on Super Bowl Sunday

Dave Morse is working on a master's degree.

Dave Morse will spend part of Super Bowl Sunday much like he did 10 times this fall. Using a notebook. The first-year Sharon High School varsity football head coach says he'll spend Sunday doing "homework all day, for my master's (degree) program." "I don't go out," Morse says of Super Bowl Sunday. "I sit on the couch. I keep it quiet. The last one, I watched the first half with my Dad and the second half by myself. "When I coach, I feel like I'm upbeat. I'm emotional. But with the Patriots, I constantly feel like I have a weight on my stomach. I get too nervous and too anxious." The New England Patriots and the New York Giants meet in Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis at 6:30 p.m. Morse isn't nervous about the Patriots defense, which …
