Hockomock League Cross Country Championships to Take Over Borderland Saturday

Oliver Ames will be one of the Hockomock League teams competing

Submitted to Patch: The 2012 George King Hockomock League Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27. The event will be hosted at Borderland State Park in Easton. There will be a series of four races. Over 700 student athletes are expected to compete and over 1000 spectators are expected to attend. The starting gun for the first race, the girls’ varsity championship, goes off at 9:30 a.m. The varsity boys’ championship is the second race of the day, followed by the junior varsity and freshman races. The meet includes the 12 teams of the Hockomock League. It will feature some of the top programs and individuals in the state. Mansfield High School is the defending boys’ champion. Sharon Patch Sports Scoreboard: Football Wins Third Straight

The Sharon High football team defeated North Quincy Saturday.

  FOOTBALL-The Eagles went to 3-0 witha 34-22 win over North Quincy in the home opener Saturday. Sharon also has wins over Dedham and Rockland in nonleague action. Sean Asnes had a huge day for the Eagles with two touchdowns and 200 yards rushing. BOYS SOCCER-Sharon will be traveling to Canton Monday night for a 6 p.m. game against the Bulldogs. GIRLS SOCCER-The Eagles will be hosting Canton Monday in a 3:45 p.m. game. FIELD HOCKEY-Sharon will be at home Monday against powerhouse Canton in a 3:45 p.m. game. VOLLEYBALL-The Eagles will be playing at Milford Monday in the first Hockomock League match between the two schools at 5:15 p.m. GOLF-The Oliver Ames Tigers will be the Eagles' opponents Monday in a 3:15 p.m. match at the Sharon Country…

Sharon Runners Combine to Win Road Race

Scott Kaplan and Stephen Reilly teamed up win a New Hampshire race.

Scott Kaplan and Stephen Reilly, two incoming freshmen at Sharon High School, won the Moose on the Loose 10-Mile Trail Relay Race on Sunday Aug. 19, at Stellos Stadium in Nashua, NH. The two boys, classmates and runners for the Sharon High School cross- country team, won both their age group and the overall race, covering the 10 miles in 1:08:37. The course ran four, two-and-a-half mile loops around the wide open and well-groomed trails of Mine Falls Park behind Nashua High School.  Reilly ran the first and third legs and Kaplan ran the second and anchor legs.
