Food Pantry Demand Up 10 Percent
Non-perishables needed to help Sharon and Stoughton residents.
The Ilsa Marks Food Pantry could use food drives at the Sharon and Stoughton schools, one volunteer said today. Demand is up "probably by 10 percent" over December 2009, when the food pantry served about 50 people per week, Henrietta "Hank" Polanzak said. The latest turnout is about 60 people per week-- including four new ones Tuesday, she said. "We need each school in Sharon and Stoughton to take a month and do a food drive," Polanzak said. "Somebody take January. Somebody take February. Somebody take March. That would be a big help." Located on Stoughton's Seaver Street, the food pantry serves Sharon and Stoughton residents from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays.
