Who's Responsible for Shoveling Sidewalks in Sharon During the Winter?

We were curious about the town's rules related to sidewalk-shoveling after a snowstorm.

For Sharon residents wondering who might be responsible for shoveling the sidewalks in town in the event of a winter storm, Sharon Patch recently checked into the matter with local officials.  The answer? "During a storm, we have a hand crew that is responsible for sidewalks in the square, specific walkways, and stairs, in town," said Sharon Forestry and Grounds Division Supervisor Kevin Weber. "The equipment they use are shovels, walk-behind snowblowers, and a small track machine with a four way plow called an ASV." He added, "When the storm is over and all the roads are plowed, the operations division employees begin plowing the town and school parking lots, and sanding the roads," Weber said. Railroad Parking Passes Available Thursday on Sharon's Town Website

Railroad parking passes will be available at Sharon Town Hall's website, starting Thursday at 10 a.m.

  Quarterly railroad parking passes for Jan. 1 through March 31, 2013, will go on sale Thursday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. There will be on sale online on the Sharon town website to purchase the passes. Public computers will be made available at the DPW Office. The passes will cost $85 with Visa and Mastercard accepted. You will need your registration number to purchase the pass. Passes will no longer be mailed in a town of Sharon envelope as the return address will be from City Hall Systems. Residents are urged to purchase early as there is limited parking spaces. If you have any questions, call 781-784-1525, ext. 2314. If you receive a parking ticket and have questions contact the Sharon Town Treasurer's office at 781-784-1500, ext. 1200.
