Treasures Found in Sharon Woods

A walk shows the amazing forms trees and plants living in town.

Whenever I walk through the woods with my friend, Jeff, he always amazes me with his deep knowledge of the many species of trees and plants we have living around us. As we walk through what seems to me, to be, a sea of greenery, he is able to point out each individual by their unique characteristics. During the summer, it is easy to look out your window or through your windshield as you drive through town and see it all as one big, huge, continuous plant. But if you step outside and enter the world of the woods, with eyes wide open, you will be able to tell these old timers apart and feel more connected to them and the environment.   A good place to start is to learn how to tell the difference between a White Oak and a Red Oak.  If you …
