Natura Pet Products is expanding its recall of dry pet food and treats.
Natura Pet Products is voluntarily expanding its recall of dry pet food because of possible Salmonella contamination. The expanded recall includes all dry pet food products and treats with expiration dates prior to and including March 24, 2014. The Salmonella threat is not only for pets consuming the products, but humans handling the products, according to the FDA. The FDA said: Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers …

Bumble Bee has increased its voluntary recall to include more tuna fish cans.
A day after voluntarily recalling cans of tuna fish, Bumble Bee Foods expanded the recall to include more cans, according to the FDA. The reason for the recall is loose seals or seams that could result in product contamination “by spoilage organisms or pathogens and lead to illness if consumed.” The problem was linked to a manufacturing line issue, which has been corrected, said the FDA. The recalled tuna fish was distributed for retail sale between Jan. 17 and March 6, 2013. A second major brand of tuna has recalled some of its products because of issues with the cans, which could lead to contamination. Tri-Union Seafoods voluntarily recalled some of its Chicken of the Sea brand 5-ounce cans of chunk white albacore tuna in water, according to the FDA. “The seams on the lids of the cans do not meet the standard for seam quality. Cans that do not meet seam standards could result in product contamination by spoilage organisms or by pathogens, which could lead to illness if consumed,” reported the FDA. The FDA announced a major recall of pet products that affects a number of brands. Kasel Associated Industries of Denver is voluntarily recalling all products manufactured at its Denver facility from April 20, 2012 to Sept. 19, 2012 because of possible Salmonella contamination. The brands included in the recall are Boots & Barkley, BIXBI, Nature’s Deli, Colorado Naturals, Petco, and Best Bully Stick items, according to the FDA. Whole Foods Market is recalling one lot of its Whole Catch Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon because it may contain Listeria Monocytogenes. The organism may “cause a sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headaches, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women,” according to the FDA. Following the deaths of several children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is working to get the recliners out of homes.
At the request of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, four retailers are voluntarily recalling Nap Nanny baby recliners after several deaths and more than 100 cases of a child falling or nearly falling out. The companies participating in the recall are Amazon.com, Buy Buy Baby, Diapers.com and Toys R Us/Babies R Us. The models include Nap Nanny Generations One and Two and the Chill™ model infant recliners. "CPSC is warning parents and caregivers that these baby recliners contain defects in the design, warnings and instructions, which pose a substantial risk of injury and death to infants," the agency said in its announcement. It's the fourth recall for the brand-new Escape. Ford is offering loaner cars to buyers until they can fix the problem.
The 2013 Ford Escape is undergoing its fourth recall since its introduction this spring. Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 89,000 new Escape SUVs and Fusion sedans because the engines can overheat and cause fires. The Escape is a top seller for Ford. The 2013 version went on sale in the spring, and it already has had problems with coolant leaks, cracked fuel lines and carpet padding. Both the Fusion and Escape are among Ford's top-selling vehicles selling a combined 427,000 already this year, according to Autodata Corp. Toyota is recalling about 670,000 Toyota Prius vehicles in the U.S. because of problems with vehicles' steering. In addition, 350,000 of these same vehicles are being recalled because of problems with the electric water pump for the hybrid system, Toyota announced on Wednesday. According to Toyota: Due to insufficient hardness treatment of some of the extension shafts, the splines that connect the extension shaft to the steering gear box may deform if the steering wheel is frequently and forcefully turned to the full left or full right position while driving at slow speeds.
