Rock-N-Dock Festival, Dockdogs Return to Patriot Place

Dockdog competition, family festival and concert slated during a four-day event to benefit Down syndrome awareness and early intervention programs will be held at Patriot Place until Sunday, June 2.

For the second year in a row, Team21 has teamed with Bass Pro Shops, Dockdogs and local and national sponsors to bring its second annual Rock-N-Dock Festival to Patriot Place until Sunday, June 2. The festival will feature an exciting aquatic canine competition, food, vendors and fun family activities on all four days. In addition to the action-packed events scheduled at Bass Pro Shops, there will be a benefit concert on Saturday at Showcase LIVE featuring Nashville recording artist Lori McKenna. US Figure Skating Gold Medalist Kyoko Yano to Perform in 'Finale on Ice' at Patriot Place

The March 3 event will mark the end of the Winter Skate season at Patriot Place.

Winter Skate at Patriot Place presented by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, a popular outdoor ice skating venue in Foxborough, will host a figure skating spectacular on Sunday, March 3 at 6 p.m.with proceeds benefiting the Hockomock Area YMCA's "Reach Out for Youth" initiative. “Finale on Ice” will mark the end of the 2013 skating season at Winter Skate. The event will feature 25 performances by 38 local competitive figure skaters, all with ties to the New England area. Among them are Jade Esposito, a fifth-grader at Newton Country Day School, and Nathan Rensing, a freshman at Wachusett Regional High School, who together won the silver medal at the Eastern Sectionals in 2012 and placed seventh in the nation at the U.S. Figure Skating …

Former Patriot Kevin Faulk to Announce Retirement from NFL Tuesday in Foxborough

The former Patriots running back is expected to announce his retirement Tuesday at The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Longtime New England Patriots running back Kevin Faulk is expected to officially announce his retirement from the NFL Tuesday at The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon. The Patriots have announced they will be holding a press conference to formally announce the retirement of Faulk, a three-time Super Bowl champion, closing the book on a successful 13-year career - all in New England. The press conference will be held at The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon starting at 10:30 a.m. in the Grand Hall on the third floor. Beginning Friday morning, Trader Joe's is open for business 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week at 350 Patriot Pl., Foxborough. Check out these scense from Friday's grand opening.

The line was long, the cheers were loud and the celebration was on at 350 Patriot Pl. Friday morning as Trader Joe's opened for business just down the road from Sharon in Foxborough. The news of the opening recently pleased a couple of Sharon residents. Hundreds of customers filled the neighborhood grocery store shortly after 8 a.m. following the ceremonial cutting of the Lei. On hand to celebrate the highly anticipated opening were members of The Kraft Group, including president Jonathan Kraft, members of the New England Patriots cheerleaders, "Pat Patriot,” the team’s mascot and Trader Joe's Regional Vice President Chris Maguire among others. Trader Joe's to Celebrate Local Opening in Grand Style

Trader Joe's Grand Opening celebrations - to be held at 8 a.m. on Sept. 7 - will include a ceremonial Lei cutting with Trader Joe’s Crew Members, appearances by “Pat Patriot” and Patriots cheerleaders and live music, free raffles for prizes and more.

When the ceremonial Lei is cut at 8 a.m. next Friday, Trader Joe's will officially be open for business at its Patriot Place location in Foxborough, a stone's throw from the Sharon line. Sharon Schools to Adopt NASA Astronaut Program for All Grade Levels

The district will be the first to adopt the "Train Like an Astronaut" program for students in all grades at the elementary level.

This school year, students in Sharon will have the chance to redefine the word "stellar".  While Sharon Public Schools has hosted NASA's "Train Like an Astronaut" program for Grades 3-5 for several years, starting this year, students of all grades in the elementary level will be able to participate.  "NASA is using the Sharon Public Schools as a role model district in offering TLA workshops to introduce the program to districts across the nation," said Tim Vigorito, Sharon's K-5 Wellness Facilitator and NASA Team USA Mission X Leader. "With the inclusion of art, technology, library and music planned additionally this year, the Sharon Team USA model will offer complete, integrated learning opportunities for the students." Patch Puppy Meet New Friends at Patriot Place at "Sound of Summer" Concert

The Patch Puppy was dancing and meeting people during the "Sounds of Summer" concert series at Patriot Place, sponsored by Patch Sunday.

The Patch Puppy was glad to meet some many more friends and have his pitchure taken with them. City of Squares was the performers Sunday. Massachusetts Sales Tax Holiday Passed for Aug. 11-12

The tax break was part of a larger economic development bill the Legislature passed earlier this week.

Time for back to school shopping at Patriot Place? Or a trip to the Wrentham outlets? Or a trip to the Village Mall? Saturday, Aug. 11 and Sunday, Aug. 12 would be a good time to go. As part of the jobs bill passed on the last day of the legislative session, lawmakers in Boston passed a two-day tax holiday. The 115-page bill, passed on Tuesday, included a two-day holiday Aug. 11 and 12 from the state's 6.25 percent sales tax, according to the Boston Globe.  Excluded from the tax holiday are restaurant meals, cars, motorboats, tobacco and any item that costs more than $2,500. To offset the loss of revenue, Gov. Deval Patrick set aside $20 milliion in a supplemental budget he filed early last month. Massachusetts was one of 17 states in the …
