The National Weather Service issued the warning for the majority of Eastern Massachusetts Thursday afternoon, as it anticipates about 2 feet of snow to descend upon the area Friday into Saturday. Forecasters are warning the timing of an approaching snowstorm may make Monday afternoon and evening commute slippery.
There may be an inch of snow on the ground on Monday evening during the evening commute, according to forecasters at WHDH-TV. "Don't expect a ton of snow, but a general 1-3" falls late Monday afternoon, through the evening, producing slick roads, perhaps in time for the ride home from work," writes meterologist Chris Lambert in his blog. The agency has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Wednesday in the area. Thus ends the January thaw. Wind gusts could reach to near 40 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook on Wednesday for Eastern Massachusetts, including Sharon. "Snow and sleet tonight will change to rain Thursday," the outlook states. "Some accumulation is possible before the changeover." Rain could be heavy at times Thursday morning, causing the potential for minor urban flooding, the outlook stated. Wind gusts, meanwhile, will reach around 37 degrees.
There will be several storms moving across the area all week that are expected to all bring rain to much of the state.

The greatest chance of snow will come to the northwest of the two towns. On Monday night into Tuesday, the next storm will bring “mainly rain” to the area, the weather service said. Then on Tuesday night into Wednesday northwest winds could really pick up. Winds during that time could prompt a wind advisory, the weather service said. And finally, on Thursday night into Friday, another storm will again “probably bring mainly rain” with a greater chance of snow to start the storm for inland areas.
