You Ask, Patch Answers: What is the Latest on Sharon Commons?

Sharon Patch checks in with local officials on the longstanding project.

As part of our ongoing You Ask . . . Patch Answers series, this week we checked in with local officials for any updates regarding the Sharon Commons project. The permitting for Sharon Commons was voted by the Sharon Zoning Board of Appeals on Jan. 9, according to Town Administrator Ben Purtiz, and there will be a subsequent filing with the Town Clerk. The town is collaborating with the developers of the project, which include Congress Group for the commercial portion and B'nai B'rith Housing for the residential portion.  Officials will be looking at financial assistance programs made available from the Massachusetts Development Finance Agency (MDFA), Puritz said. I have lived in Sharon for almost a year and I have tried to follow these Sharon Commons updates closely since I am living less than a mile from the location. Personally, I absolutely do not want the Sharon Commons built. I don’t understand why so many people are supporting it.
