Eagles' Bao Finishes 11th Twice at States

Harvard University hosted Sunday's meet.

Sharon High School senior Tana Bao placed 11th in two events at the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 1 Swimming and Diving Championships on Sunday. Bao finished the 200 Individual Medley in 2:18.89, according to the MIAA website. North Attleboro freshman Aidan Devers was 10th, in 2:18.50. Bao finished the 100 Breastroke in 1:11.02, tied for 11th with Concord-Carlisle freshman Cassidy Smith. Sharon's 200 Medley Relay team finished 19th. The Eagles' team of Bao, junior Carly Krause, freshman Liza Krause and sophomore Alex Arnoff finished in a time of 2:01.82, according to the MIAA website. Shrewsbury was 18th, in a time of 2:01.79. Sharon's Bao, Dunlap Record Top-10 Finishes at Swim Sectionals

The state meets are this weekend.

Two Sharon High School swimmers recorded top-10 finishes at the Central/South Sectionals over the weekend. Senior Tana Bao placed fifth in the 200 Individual Medley, with a time of 2:15.72. Barnstable sophomore Lindsay Partin was fourth, with a time of 2:13.64, according to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association website. Bao was seventh in the 100 Breast, with a time of 1:10.69. Oliver Ames freshman Haley Gula was sixth, with a time of 1:10.24. Sophomore Jon Dunlap finished sixth in the 100 Breast, with a time of 1:04.15 Dunlap was right behind Bishop Feehan High School senior Christian Tinory, who finished in 1:04.12, according to the MIAA website. Teamwork Propels Sharon High Girls Swimmers

Three relay teams are among the Eagles entered in today's sectionals.

Teamwork helped the Sharon High School girls swimming team enter today's sectionals as the Hockomock League's Davenport Division champions. Three Eagles relay teams are competing in the sectionals, underway at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The relay teams qualified for the upcoming state meet, too. Those relays are: the 400 free relay of sophomore Julia Cox, freshman Liza Krause, junior Christine LaHive and senior Tana Bao; the 200 medley relay of Bao, Seigel, Krause and sophomore Alex Arnoff, and the 200 free relay of Bao, Krause, and juniors Carly Krause and LaHive. "It's really exciting that so many girls made it," junior co-captain Caroline Sun says. Sharon finished the regular season at 6-3. The Eagles recorded numerous …

Sharon High Swimmers Win Davenport Titles

Eagles prepare for this weekend's Sectionals.

The Sharon High School boys and girls swimming teams head to this weekend's South Sectionals as the Hockomock League's Davenport Division champions. The boys finished third overall and the girls fourth at last Saturday's Hockomock League Championships, at Attleboro, Eagles head coach Jennifer Iverson says. Senior Mikey Schanz won the Davenport diving title, she says. In the Hockomock boys meet, sophomore Jon Dunlap finished ninth overall: second in the 200 IM (2:07.40) and third in the 100 breast (1:05.25), Iverson says. Sharon Girls Swim Roster Features Solid Group

Eagles open 2011-2012 on Wednesday.

The Sharon High School girls swimming roster features just one senior. However, "we have a lot of depth this year," new head coach Jennifer Iverson says. The Eagles 2011-2012 season opener is against Mansfield at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Randolph High School, Sharon's home pool. Juniors Erin Seigel and Caroline Sun are Sharon's co-captains. Seigel is a breaststroker, and Sun does middle and long distances, and is a freestyler, Iverson said. "In and out of the pool, they're just excellent girls. They're great leaders. They're great role models. They encourage the other swimmers to really give it their all," said Iverson, who succeeds Adrienne Smutko, who coached the team the past two seasons.
