The Kid In Him Catches Garter Snakes
They're fairly common in Sharon.
When I was a young boy growing up in New Hampshire, I can remember stumbling across an underground well in a small field of tall, thin grass somewhere in the woods behind my friend’s house. We looked down the well and decided it would be a good idea to explore the deep abyss, so I lowered myself into the hole with a thick rope that my friend tied to a big tree. I immediately discovered that the well was loaded with a whole bunch of garter snakes that were slithering through the cracked earth between the flat stones. The next memory I have is riding home on my bicycle holding a plastic gallon jug filled with a hundred garter snakes of all different sizes.
