A recap of Thanksgiving football action in the Hockomock League.
If anything, Thanksgiving once again proved how exciting and unpredictable the Hockomock League can be. The League's two playoff teams both lost; Stoughton and Mansfield's long Thanksgiving win streaks were snapped, while Oliver Ames extended its streak; the King Philip/Franklin and Stoughton/Canton games came down to the wire, with the KP/Franklin game being decided in the final seconds, and with Stoughton/Canton being decided in overtime, and Foxborough orchestrated a second-half comeback vs. Mansfield. The other games were blowouts. Thanksgiving marked the end of the season for nine of the teams in the league, but Mansfield (Division 2) and Sharon (Division 3) will head to the postseason, playing in a semifinal game Tuesday night, …

Sharon High football team shifts their attention to next Saturday when the Eagles will be hosting Foxborough in a key Davenport Division game.
It was being billed as the Hockomock League game of the week: Rex-Kelley Division leader Franklin (6-2) hosting Davenport Division leader Sharon at 7-1. For all intended purposes it surely looked as if it was going to hold true to form with both team’s defenses bending, but not breaking in the early goings. The visitors looked as though they were going to draw first blood in the heavyweight tilt, but the Panthers turned back the Eagles grabbing the momentum and eventually took the game, 21-7, Friday night in Franklin. Following an interception of Franklin’s Nick Zucco on the fourth play of the game, Sharon put together a 13-play drive that started at their own 40-yard line before stalling on the Panther 15. A recap of Week 1 football action in the Hockomock League.
While the games don't count towards league standings, and have little impact on playoff eligibility, Hockomock League football teams got off to a hot start in week 1 of the high school football season, with all teams winning their respective openers with the exception of Taunton (Canton's game was suspended). Week 1 game recaps are below.
