UPDATED: Sharon Storm Center: Tracking the New England Blizzard

Be sure to check the Patch Live Blog during the blizzard this weekend! In what could be the biggest snow storm New England has seen in more than two years, Sharon could be among the communities in Massachusetts to see nearly two feet of the white stuff this weekend.  With the lastest forecast, the National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch for most of eastern Massachusetts including Sharon, calling it a "potential historic winter storm". Residents can expect the potential of snow falling at 3-to-4 inches per hour and wind gusts of more thsan 20 miles per hour. UPDATED-Sharon Storm Info Center: Numbers to Keep on Hand During Hurricane Sandy

Here's a list of non-emergency numbers that could be useful if the storm causes problems.

  UPDATE (10:30 p.m.)-NSTAR was reporting an 2,205 estimated customers are without power. UPDATE (10:30 p.m.)-The MBTA is expecting to resume service Tuesday with the exception of the Stoughton-Providence line. Governor Deval Patrick said he was hoping there would be no delays. Check with the MBTA for scheduling information. Update (6:33 p.m.) - There are reports of damage to a residence on Blair Circle in Sharon after a tree fell onto a house.  As of 6:30 p.m., 343 were without power in Sharon, according to NSTAR. Update (3:18 p.m.) - Sharon Police Department reported closures on Old Post Road due to being blocked, Bay Road by East Street and Walpole by Bluff Head. Sharon Town Offices Remain Temporary Housing Option During Emergencies

Sharon's Local Emergency Planning Committee met today.

The Sharon Town Offices will continue housing residents temporarily during severe storms and other emergencies until Sharon opens a designated shelter, Fire Chief James Wright said today. Sharon's Local Emergency Planning Committee discussed such topics this morning. The town hall will remain an option for residents whose homes are damaged, for example, during emergencies and who cannot find temporary housing elsewhere, such as with relatives or friends, Wright said. The timetable is between an emergency's start and Sharon opening a community shelter, he said. Civil Defense Director Michael Polimer called the town hall "ideal" for such use.
