Marty Farren says he was told he wasn't registered as a Democrat.
Sharon resident Marty Farren has withdrawn from the Fourth Congressional District race after, he says, the Secretary of State's office told him he wasn't registered as a Democrat. Farren said Wednesday he learned of the error while submitting signatures toward getting on the ballot. "I had two weeks left to go and I had 2,200-something signatures from some 32 towns, and the Secretary of State was like, 'You're not a Democrat. You can run as an Independent. You'd have to get new signatures because your sheets all say Democrat,'" Farren said. "I came to the town hall and they said, 'You're not a registered Democrat.' So, I'm a registered Democrat now. It stopped me dead in the water. Not a thing you can do." Farren said the Sharon town clerk…

Childs, of Brookline, met with the Sharon Republican Town Committee at the Sharon Veterans of Foreign Wars hall. Childs seeks the seat currently held by Barney Frank (D-Newton), who is not seeking re-election in November. She said was inspired last summer to run by being "disgusted with what was going on in Washington." She said "both sides of the aisle" are "fingerpointing," which is "getting in the way of solutions." "Solutions come from us, the individuals, when we take them to Washington," Childs said. The Sharon Republican Town Committee also heard from Governor's Council candidate …
