Cottage Street School students shared moments to relish on Sunday. Unless they preferred ketchup, mustard or pickles. The school's Back to School BBQ drew quite a few families for hamburgers and hot dogs, and playground games. Parents also met new Principal Kevin Madden and new Assistant Principal Andrew Zides.

The Cottage Street School's administrative team picked up a veteran infielder this summer. New Assistant Principal Andrew Zides played for Canton High School; the Canton American Legion Post 24 baseball team, where his teammates included Sharon High School assistant coach Kee Arguimbau, as well as Adam Blaustein, the son of Sharon School Committee member Mitch Blaustein; and at Division I Quinnipiac University with Ari Kafka, the son of state Rep. Louis Kafka (D-Stoughton). The 30-year-old Easton resident also interned for both the Baseball Hall of Fame and for the Pawtucket Red Sox. Seekonk principal and a local autism school leader to be mentored by retired East principal.
The Cottage Street School's new leadership team is a Seekonk elementary principal and a local autism school program coordinator. Kevin Madden becomes Cottage principal Aug. 1, after serving the past four years at Seekonk's George R. Martin Elementary School, Sharon School Superintendent Timothy Farmer said Thursday. Meanwhile, Andrew Zides became Cottage assistant principal and part-time special education team leader July 1, Farmer said. Zides has been program coordinator of the League School of Greater Boston, in Walpole. Madden succeeds John Marcus, who served eight years at Cottage's helm before becoming Sharon's director of technology July 1.
