Sharon lost, 7-3, Wednesday dropping their record to 10-8 on the season.
The Sharon varsity baseball team fell to Oliver Ames in a rainy game at Easton's Frothingham Park Wednesday. The 7-3 loss came with star pitcher Jake Fishman on the mound. “Fishman is probably the best pitcher in the league and the last time he struck out like 11 of us and we looked stupid," OA head coach Leo Duggan said. "Today we just put the ball into play and they made a couple mistakes and we got some big hits finally.” Sharon head coach Joel Peckham blames the loss on poor defense. “We made too many mistakes. That’s why we lost. We battled back, we hit the ball pretty good,” Peckham said. “We’re an aggressive team, we hit the ball reasonably well and Fishman is in my mind the best pitcher in the league and they did hit the ball but …

The girls lost 6-1 Monday afternoon.
The Sharon varsity softball team lost, 6-1, to Stoughton at home Monday after giving up six runs in the first two innings. “We gave up three in the first and three in the second and then pretty much kept them where we needed to," said Sharon head coach Deb Parker. "We just didn’t come back with our bats at all and that hurt." Said Stoughton head coach Janet Sullivan: “Give them credit because their pitcher, she’s come in off their bench because they lost their starting pitcher, she did a great job. She shut us down after two innings. We didn’t score again.” Rachel Usen had the lone RBI for the Eagles. The girls now have a record of 2-10 on the season.

OA's Mattea Sarnecki had a strong pitching performing in a complete game effort.
The Sharon varsity softball team's lack of offense led to a loss Wednesday on the road against Oliver Ames. The girls fell to the Tigers 5-0 struggling against pitcher Mattea Sarnecki. Sarnecki picked up her first shutout of the season. “I think she did a great job keeping our bats at bay which is not something I expected to have happen because I think we’re a decent hitting team," Sharon head coach Debbie Parker said. Sarnecki allowed six hits in the complete game effort. “She really got her job done today," said OA head coach Lindsay Allison. "We’ve been really working on using her legs and really hitting her spots.” The Tigers grabbed a run in the first inning and the score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth when OA picked up …

Patch editor gives a first-hand report from the Boston Marathon.
Monday, April 15 was my first time running the Boston Marathon. It was suppose to be a fun day focused on overcoming a strenuous 26.2-mile race, but once I reached the end, I was greeted with panic, caution and tears rather than high fives and celebrations. Monday was a perfect day for a runner and spectator, it was sunny and warm with a cool breeze. It would be hard to find an excuse why anyone with the day off from work wouldn’t be in town to either watch the race, the Sox game or to grab a bite at a restaurant. I was running this marathon as a bandit. I had no official number and was nervous security or someone from the Boston Athletic Association would kick me out. Once I reached the start line, it was smooth sailing. I was full of …
