Kindergarten Parent Orientation and Registration

Parents of incoming Kindergarteners (adults only, please) are invited to learn about the Kindergarten program of the Sharon Public Schools on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Cottage Street School.

Presentation includes:

• A Look at Kindergarten
• Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
• Getting Involved
• Registration Information

The Parent Orientation is for parents who plan to have their children enter kindergarten in September 2014. Children turning five years old on or before August 31, 2014 are eligible for kindergarten enrollment.

The actual registration for all children planning to enter kindergarten will be held at: 

• Cottage Street Elementary School on January 22 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM 
• East Elementary School on January 22 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM
• Heights Elementary School on January 22 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Kindergarten Screenings will be held in June at each school.

David Matz, Professor of Conflict Resolution, to speak at Temple Kol Tikvah

David Matz will speak at Temple Kol Tikvah, Sharon on “Mediating the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: What’s the US Plan.” The event is sponsored by J Street Boston.

Matz, who received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1963, has been a professor of conflict resolution since 1973 and served as Director of the Graduate Programs in Conflict Resolution at UMass Boston from 1986 to 2010. In 1989-90, Matz served as Fulbright Professor of Law at the Tel Aviv University. In Israel, he worked for the High Court of Justice and the Justice Ministry, helping them develop mediation techniques for the courts. He has also worked with Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salaam, an Arab-Jewish village, and has written widely about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Matz is a founding partner of The Mediation Group in Brookline.
