Chance of Thunderstorms, But the Fireworks Are Still On in Sharon

The evening forecast also shows a chance of showers and thunderstorms, with fog after 9 p.m

Sharon's got a chance of thunderstorms, but the fireworks are on, according to the Needham Exchange Club, which hosts the annual Fourth of July celebration.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms, with "new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

The evening forecast also shows a chance of showers and thunderstorms, with fog after 9 p.m. Chance of precipitation, said the National Weather Service, is 50 percent. It also reports a "hazardous weather outlook" for the area.

The official site for Sharon's Fourth of July event declares that the festivities are still on for Thursday, July 3, and "that includes the fireworks."

The event kicks off at 4 p.m. with the bike and doll carriage parade, followed by a lakeside celebration at Memorial Beach with kids activities, demonstrations, food, carnival, pie eating contest, train rides, and the fireworks (at 9:30 p.m.).
