The following was submitted by Sharon High School swim head coach Jenn Iverson.

The Sharon High School boys swim team finished their season up sending six to the DII State Championship Meet at Harvard University. Ben Mo, a freshman was able to swim the 200 freestyle after the MIAA opened up the state meet to all sectional qualifiers who missed their opportunity to swim at Sectionals because of a snow storm cancellation. After finishing the regular season 9-0, the boys team walked into Milford High School with one goal in mind, a league championship win to top off their undefeated season. And they got it. They left Milford as the Hockomock Swimming Champions for the first time ever.

They let everyone know they were there right away taking first by over two seconds in the medley relay with a team of Eoghan Daly, Jon Dunlap, Jack Fergenbaum and Will Sweet. Jon Dunlap took 3rd in the 200 IM and we had 8th and 15th place finishes from Dan Aspinwall and Coby Mayhew in the 50 free. Jack Fergenbaum started the second half off winning the 100 fly and more points followed with Varun Beldona’s 6th place finish and Saileh Kaveti’s 15th.  Another 40 points were brought in with the group of 100 freestylers, Nickie Cheung (3rd), Ben Mo (5th), Dan Aspinwall (9th) and Coby Mayhew (16th). In the 500 freestyle Eoghan Daly finished 3rd, Tadhg Daly, 6th and Dan Griffin 12th. The 200 free relay team of Dan Aspinwall, Nickie Cheung, Ben Mo and Will sweet came in 4th. Eoghan Daly and Jack Fergenbaum finished the 100 back 3rd and 9th and Jon Dunlap won the 100 breaststrok with Will Sweet finishing 5th and Rhaul Polu 14th. The boys completed the meet finishing 4th in the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Ben Mo, Jack Fergenbaum, Nickie Cheung and Eoghan Daly.

The team had some great depth this year. We were fortunate to have a talented group of returning seniors and with the addition of some promising underclassman, we knew going into it that we had a shot at this kind of a season. This years seniors are a great group and I’m so happy they could take this season with them as they begin their new adventures.

The girls team finished their season 6-3 and 6th at Hock Championships. Liza Krause, Tabitha May, Christine LaHive, Alex Arnoff, Julia Cox and Ally Dunlap all continued into the post season competing at the D1 Girls State Meet held at Springfield College.  Liza competed individually in the 200 free and 100 fly and Tabitha in the 200 IM. The girls also competed in the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free relays.
