Sharon Runner Helps Raise Thousands

First responders, others hit the stairs at the American Lung Association's charity event last weekend.

Firefighters and residents from around Massachusetts climbed more than 40 flights of stairs at the BNY Mellon Center on Washington Street in Boston on Feb. 1, as part of the American Lung Association’s annual “Fight for Air” event.

Called a “vertical road race” by organizers, the event raises money and awareness for lung cancer, asthma, air pollution and other breathing disorders.

Kelly Doyle of Sharon running for the Climb It Change! team came in 376th during the run. The team was the top fundraiser for the event, raising nearly $17,000 for the charity.
