Sharon Girls U12 'A' Soccer Wins D2 South Shore Title

Sharon advances to the Division 2 state tournament this weekend.

The Sharon girls U12 "A" soccer team ended the season by winning the Division 2 South Shore Soccer League Championship on Sunday.

The championship qualifies Sharon for the Division 2 Massachusetts Tournament of Champions, in Lancaster from June 22 to June 24. Sharon will face league champions from all over the state.

Sharon finished the regular season at 6-2 and was seeded fourth in the playoffs.

Sharon outscored its opponents 15-0 over the four post-season games: 6-0 against one Easton team, 5-0 against a second Easton team, 3-0 against top-seed Rockland in the semifinals, and 1-0 against second-seed Raynham in the finals.

Rockland had only given up two goals all season before surrendering three to Sharon.

Sharon defeated Raynham in the finals with about one minute left in regulation.

Sharon's Bridget McManus netted a direct kick from just outside the box.

The Sharon team includes: Bridget McManus, Alexandra Filipkowski, Sabrina Robbins, Shira Stoller, Maxine Gordon, Jesse Tarnoff, Maria Gieg, Ariana Chabot, Maeve Barbera, Isabelle Chun, Jaime Kessler, Catherine Griffin and Lydia Chase. The team coaches are Alan Robbins and Pat McManus.
