Selectmen Praise Sharon Pop Warner Cheerleaders for Effort at National Championship

With achievement in athletics on the rise around Sharon in recent years, the selectmen took time on Tuesday evening to recognize a first time accomplishment from a group of pop warner cheerleaders.

Never in their 44 year history has Sharon sent Pop Warner cheerleaders to a national competition, until this year that is. After placing second in the Hockomock competition and second at the New England regional competition, the C cheerleaders, who cheer for the pee wee team, qualified for the Pee Wee Pop Warner Nationals at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

“It’s a great thing that you did for Sharon. You made us proud,” Selectmen Chairman Joe Roach told the team.

Competing in December, the cheerleaders took seventh in Cheer Level 2 Large Division.

The achievement was the result of effortless work from the girls who have been practicing since Aug. 15 and had to push other commitments to the side for the team.
