New Look for Sharon High Football Team

A year after winning its first Super Bowl, the Sharon High football team are in a new playoff system and a new division.
And that's not the only change.
Under the new format, which is designed to crown a state Super Bowl champion, teams have seven games scheduled before the playoffs start in November. If the Eagles don't make the playoffs, there will be scheduling games on those dates with non-playoff opponents.
Sharon and Oliver Ames will be meeting twice, one at OA, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m., in the first night game of the series. That will be a Hockomock League Davenport Division game and they will play a non-league match-up Thanksgiving Day at Sharon in a 10 a.m. start.
The Eagles are the only Hockomock League team in Division 3 Southeast and will be competing with the likes of Dartmouth, powerhouse Dighton-Rehoboth, Falmouth, Nauset, Pembroke (a playoff opponent last year), Plymouth North, Plymouth South, Sandwich, Silver Lake, Somerset-Berkley and Whitman-Hanson.
Sharon doesn't have a divisional opponent on their schedule.
The Eagles will open up the season Sept. 12 at Scituate in a 7 p.m. game before returning home to play Cardinal Spellman, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m., followed by a Sept. 28 home match against Canton at 1 p.m.
In October, the Eagles will spend the first weeks of the month on the road. Sharon will be at Foxborough, Oct. 4, 7 p.m., at Oliver Ames, 7 p.m., Oct. 18 at Stoughton, 7 p.m. Sharon will be finishing the Davenport Division part of the schedule Oct. 28 against Milford in a 1 p.m. start.
