Foxborough High Football Team Blanks Sharon

This was exactly what the doctor ordered for the Foxborough High football, while Sharon missed an opportunity to stay tied with Oliver Ames at the top of the Hockomock League's Davenport Division.

The Warriors rebounded after a tough 37-6 loss to OA for a 37-0 win over the Eagles Friday night at the Ahern School. Keeyon Neal led the way for Foxborough with a four touchdown performance.

"We had our backs to the wall," said Foxborough head coach Jack Martinelli, whose team improved to 1-1 in the league and 2-2 overall. "It was a credit to the seniors. After last week's loss, lesser kids could have said, let's get ready for winter or spring spots."

In the first half, the Warriors jumped out to a 23-0 commanding halftime lead and were able to keep the Eagles in check offensively.

Neal ran through the Eagle defense for two first half touchdowns, scoring from 7 yards out for a 6-0 lead. He followed that up with a 25-yard dash up the middle. On the two-point conversation, Rogers keep the ball himself for the two-point and a 14-0 lead.

"He was very smooth tonight." said Martinelli of Neal's performance. "Nolan Rogers did a great job orchestrating the offense,

In the second quarter, junior Kyle Will displayed a big time leg with a 36-yard field goal that went right down the middle for a 17-0 lead.

Sharon's offense, led by quarterback Sean O'Neill and the running of Rob Smith, was able to move the ball down the field at times, but two interceptions by Balazs Busznyak including a grab by the junior in front of an Eagle receiver, halted the Sharon drives.

One of the Busznyak's interceptions ended up being turned into a 23-0 halftime lead as Neal ran for an 11-yard score.

In the third frame, Foxborough's Jess Todd started things off with a big kickoff return, breaking through a bunch of Eagles to give the Warriors the ball on the Sharon 36-yard line. Neal turned into a 20-yard touchdown for a 29-0 lead.

After Neal was through scoring for the day, Foxborough's Ronnie Martin got into the scoring from a yard out and 35-0 lead.

Foxborough's final points of the night came on a safety as Pat Flannery and Jake Pond tackled O'Neill in the end zone.

Sharon dropped to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the league and will be facing Thanksgiving Day rival Oliver Ames, scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m.

Foxborough is 1-1 in the league and 2-2 overall. The Warriors will be at Milford Friday night for a 7 p.m. game.
