Eagles Come up Short Against Hingham

The boys' soccer team fell 2-0 to Hingham.

Despite playing solid defense for most of the game and forcing Hingham to shoot from wide of the net for most of the first half, the Eagles could not find the scoring touch in their home opener.

Unable to find a spark on offense, the Hingham Harbormen beat the Eagles 2-0.

After a pair of early chances from Lucas Allaria and Mitch Lesser, an attacking Hingham offense put the Eagles on defense for the first 20-25 minutes of the first half.

The next scoring opportunity for the Eagles came in the 32nd minute when Lesser had a chance to put in a shot into a near empty net from the top of the box, but the Hingham defense and goalkeeper Matt Kellem forced Lesser to shoot over the crossbar.

A well placed ball near the Sharon goal during the start of the second half gave Hingham a 1-0 lead during the 46th minute. Patrick O’Rouke’s pass into the penalty area found Stephen Ducey who was able to beat Eric Hefez for the goal.

Jake Goloboy had a chance to tie after getting a through ball to the right of the goal but could only hit side netting in the 72nd minute.

A final insurance goal from Peter Bixby bounced into the Sharon net off the post in the 75th minute to lock up a win for Hingham.

Facing a barrage of shots at times, Hefez had 12 saves in the losing effort.

The Eagles return to the pitch on Sept. 9 at Franklin.
