The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (Metro LEC) is proud to announce that on February 18th, 2014, the organization will officially become the 19th nationally certified CART team-only the 2nd team in the Northeast- to receive this honor.  The award will be presented on behalf of the Department of Justice by Phil Keith, Program Director for the AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program.

On July 23rd and 24th, 2013, Metro LEC conducted a “mock” child abduction drill in the Town of Norwood.  Officers from member agencies of the Metro LEC organization mobilized and responded to Norwood to investigate a report of a missing child.  Assessors from the AMBER Program evaluated the Metro LEC Child Abduction Response Team (Metro CART), a specialized unit within Metro LEC, assessing protocols and the effectiveness of the drill, to ensure they met the standards set forth by the U.S. Department of Justice

Metro LEC is a consortium of personnel from Massachusetts cities, towns and sheriff departments, with the collective goal of sharing resources among member agencies, so that the best possible services can be provided to their communities during incidents that necessitate an increased response in a very short amount of time.   The abduction of a child falls right under those parameters.  The various factions of the organization (ie. SWAT, CART, Mobile Ops, Public Information, Investigative Service Unit) train rigorously, on a regular basis, so that when needed, response can be expedited and assistance rendered immediately.   During this exercise, Metro LEC coordinated other resources to assist including the FBI, State Police, Team ADAM and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.  Having a certified CART team, has fortified the ability of the Metro LEC organization to bring a successful resolution to cases involving missing or abducted children! What could be more fulfilling than that?
