Young Sharon Girls Cross-Country Team Ready To Go

Eagles open season Tuesday.

The girls cross-country team is small in numbers yet big in optimism.

The Eagles open the season today with "a small team, a young team, but I think we should be able to get a few victories," says Alan Conway, one of Sharon's four coaches.

Sharon hosts Oliver Ames today at 3:45 p.m. at Deborah Sampson Park.

"They are very dedicated to the sport. They work really hard. They really lead by example."

Sun was the Eagles' only All-State competitor last season, when the team went 2-2, Conway says.

Sophomore Elise Commons also should be among Sharon's top performers, he says. Commons attended a running camp this summer, he says.

The team's schedule is:

All meets start at 3:45 p.m. The home meets are at Deborah Sampson Park on East Foxboro Street.
