Sharon High School Named Eighth Best in Boston Area for 2012

Sharon was ranked eight out of 50 spots on the list by Boston Magazine.

Sharon High School has been ranked as No. 8 in the state in a new list released by Boston Magazine.

The list ranks the 50 best public high schools within the Greater Boston area, all 230 of them. Rankings were based on data gathered from consulting school officials and websites, as well as the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, according to an announcement by Boston Magazine.

Determining factors of the district rankings includes test scores, number of AP classes, graduation rate, percent of students who continue to college, as well as the amount of sports teams and clubs.

Below is the Top 10 list, with Weston High School coming in at No. 1:

  2. Lexington High School
  3. Dover Sherborn Regional High School
  4. Concord-Carlisle High Shcool
  5. Wellesley Senior High School
  6. Wayland High School
  7. Newton South High School
  8. Sharon High School 
  9. Acton-Boxborough Regional High School
  10. Bedford High School
