One School Street Turned Over to Town

Whatever happens to One School Street, it’s in the town’s hands now.

With little use for the building, the school committee recently voted to turn the former administrative building over to the town.

The vote comes after a recommendation from Superintendent Timothy Farmer to transfer the building over and let the town decide what to do with the building.

Currently, One School Street is home to the Police and Fire Museum and is occasionally used for meetings but not at the rate initially expected.

“That just hasn’t worked out,” School Committee chair Emily Smith-Lee said of the use of the building.

Due to the location, the building has not seem much activity with members of the administration preferring to have meetings closer to their offices.

“I tried my best as well but if I have a meeting here (Sharon Middle School), my office is right here if I forget something and not across town,” Farmer said on Nov. 6

Now with control over the building, it is unknown what action the town will take.
