An Oliver Ames High School student got in trouble with police after allegedly capturing "inappropriate" photos of female students through Snapchat.

Police said the 17-year-old student asked two female students—one aged 15 and the other 17—to send him the photos through Snapchat, the social app that automatically deletes sent photos after a short period of time.

"However the male used another device to capture the photos on his cellphone before they (were) erased," Easton police said in a statement. "This male student then showed the photos to others and school officials became aware of the situation."

Following an investigation that involved the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the student agreed to a pre-trial diversion offer that mandates he complete 40 hours of community service, among other requirements.

"School officials and a representative from the District Attorney’s Office are working on plans for a school assembly to discuss the seriousness of disseminating inappropriate photos," police said.
