Former Boston Celtic Chris Herren to Speak at Sharon High School

As part of an efforts by the Sharon Education Foundation and Sharon High School to educate parents, teachers, students and the community at large about the epidemic of drug and alcohol abuse in and around Sharon, former Boston Celtic Chris Herren will speak at Sharon High School on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.

Herren, a young talented basketball player from Fall River realized his lifelong dream of playing for the Boston Celtics only to lose it all because of his drug and alcohol addiction. Sober since 2008, Herren has dedicated his life to staying clean and speaks to groups across the country about his experience. High School students will attend a presentation during the day that focuses on drug and alcohol use and abuse. That evening, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey will introduce this compelling program. Students, parents/guardians, and community members are invited to attend this presentation. It will end with a frank Q&A session designed to educate and enlighten people about the insidious nature of drug and alcohol abuse. Space is limited, so plan to arrive early. There will be resource tables set up for additional information and support.
