Selectmen Approve Use of Recruiter for Town Administrator Search

Pending the approval of the finance committee, an executive recruiter will be used to help find the next town administrator of Sharon.

Last week, the selectmen voted to approve the use of $8,700 from the reserve fund for the town administrator search and sign an engagement letter with the Collins Center of UMass Boston. $7,000 will be used for the services of the Collins Center while the remaining $1,700 will go towards administrative costs and advertising.

At the last finance committee meeting, the committee was asked to consider the transfer of funds but was hesitant to do so without signed paperwork.

“We’ll resubmit and we’ll have the paperwork. I think it would really be to the benefit of Sharon and this board that we find the money somewhere,” Selectmen Chairman Joe Roach said.

Selectman Bill Heitin said the selectmen would ask for the funds at the next town meeting if they are unable to obtain them through the finance committee.

The Collins Center will be responsible with creating a town profile and job description. The documents will be advertised on their web site and in other publications.

Once the resumes of candidates are collected, they will be reviewed by a screening committee who will decide who to interview and recommend to the selectmen.
