Familiar Faces Buy Sharon's Coriander

The Post Office Square restaurant's three new owners have all been working there.

Sharon's has new owners: its assistant manager and two of its chefs have bought equal stakes in the company.

Selectmen recently approved the transfer of the Post Office Square restaurant's alcohol license from Dao Thach and Ram Hari Dhital to Shayam Sundar Shahu, Nami Raj Tamang and Manej Khatwada.

Thach and Dhital had owned the Indian cuisine restaurant since 2009, and "helped these three get into the restaurant business," said attorney Joseph Hanley, representing the new owners.

Shahu has become Coriander's manager after serving as assistant manager the past two years, Hanley said. Tamang and Khatwada have been chefs there, he said.

The three men have each become 33 percent owners of the restaurant, Hanley said. Shahu is the new president, director and manager. Tamang is the new treasurer, clerk and director. Khatwada is the new shareholder.

"The lease stays in place. The concept stays in place," Hanley said.

"It's an opportunity for them to take over the restaurant and become the new principal shareholders in it.
