State Police To Conduct A Sobriety Checkpoint In Norfolk County Friday Night

Sharon is one possible place a sobriety checkpoint will be placed this Friday night into Saturday.

Sharon residents should be advised that the Massachusetts State Police Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Norfolk Country Friday night into Saturday.

“The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways,” said a statement by state police.

The checkpoint, which is funded by a grant from the Highway Safety Division of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Sevurity, will be operated during various hours on a public way, somewhere in Norfolk County, meaning it could be placed somewhere in Sharon.

“The selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety,” said the statement.
