Fire Strikes Sharon Home

A fire at a Sharon home resulted in the death of a cat on Friday.

Nobody was home when a passerby reported the fire at 2 Lyndon Road at 4:52 p.m., said.

No injuries were reported, Wright said.

The fire has been deemed accidental, and apparently started in a back bedroom in the single-family home, the fire chief said.

Investigators have narrowed the cause to an electrical malfunction, Wright said.

The state fire marshal's office responded to the scene, he said.

Canton and Stoughton firefighters joined Sharon firefighters at the incident, and knocked down the fire within 10 to 15 minutes, Wright said.

Foxborough firefighters covered the .

The fire caused a fair amount of smoke damage at the home, Wright said.

The family apparently is staying with friends now, he said.
