FBI Places Former Mansfield Resident with Sharon and Stoughton Ties on Most Wanted Terrorist List

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has placed a former Mansfield and Stoughton resident on its top 10 most wanted terrorist list, according to Boston.com.

Ahmad Abousamra, 31, who is a dual citizen of Syria and the United States, was indicted in 2009 along with convicted terrorist Tarek Mehanna, of Sudbury, according to Boston.com. The FBI is offering $50,000 for information leading to his capture.

Investigators believe Abousamra met Mehanna at a mosque in Sharon before moving to Mansfield from Stoughton according to CBS Boston.


Abousmra has ties to Detroit, according to the FBI and is believed to have left the United States in 2006. He may be living in Aleppo, Syria right now. The FBI said he could be with his wife and child. 

As part of the, indictment, he faces charges of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, attempting to provide material support to terrorists, conspiracy to kill in a foreign country, conspiracy and false statements, according to the FBI. Abousamra allegedly travelled to Yemen and Pakistan to obtain terrorist training, according to the FBI.
