Community Corner

One Book One Town: Sharon Reads Together announces its 2014 Program.

Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman is the 2014 book selection of the Sharon One Book One Town: Sharon Reads Together program.  As most readers are aware, Orange is the true story of Piper Kerman’s 15 month experience in the federal prison in Danbury CT for transporting money for a drug-dealing girlfriend more than a decade before.  It is also the basis of the wildly popular Netflix series of the same title.

One Town One Book (OBOT) is a national reading program designed to bring a community together through a shared reading experience. When Sharon OBOT initiated its month-long programs in 2007, the Library of Congress listed 404 such library programs.  Since that time, the OBOT Committee has worked diligently to select books and develop programs that inform, challenge, entertain, and support our community.
