Sharon Obituary: Georgia Aileen Austin

Ms. Austin was a resident of Sharon.

Georgia Aileen Austin passed into eternity March 1, 2013 aged 98 years and 8 months, at her home in Sharon, MA after a short illness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Nathaniel Sands Austin of North Weymouth, a veteran of the USMC who served his country with honor at Battle of Iwo Jima during WWII. Georgia lived on Fort Point in North Weymouth for 62 years before moving to Sharon five years ago. She was a seamstress all her life and worked at Remick’s department store in Quincy for 37 years. After “retiring” she went to work for Dan Cellucci at the Bridge Street Tailors in North Weymouth until she was 93 years of age.

She was the beloved and devoted mother of Beverly Ann Rhoades and her husband Bill of Henniker, NH, Janice Carolyn Austin of Holliston and Natalie Sandra Austin and her partner Brian L. Kain both of Sharon. Georgia and Nat Austin had six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren they loved dearly: Russell R. McAndrews and his wife Donna, of Weymouth, Alan H. Coutu, Carolyn (Missy) O’Toole (nee Coutu) and her husband Jack all of Holliston, Jeffrey Sands Austin and his wife Noelia of Miami, FL and Jessica Aileen Torres of Nashua, NH. She was also preceded in death by their dearly loved grandson David Michael McAndrews also of North Weymouth.

Born in Fairplay, MO on July 13, 1914, she was the only child of Melissa Anna Mustain and James Porter Akins. Her mother married A. Leo Pelrine in 1919; he was her Daddy-Pal and raised her after her parent’s divorced in 1917. Georgia grew up on farms in Missouri and in the wildcat oiler tin cities of Oklahoma and New Mexico before coming to MA in 1933. Georgia also leaves behind some very close loving friends: Mary Call Bigler of North Weymouth, Louise Murray of Hanover, her “son” Daniel Cellucci and his wife Judy of Scituate, Janet Dunkum and Josie Jablonski both of South Weymouth.
