After Brief Showers, Sun and Temperatures Rise in Sharon

Second heat wave of summer expected to start today.

After about an hour of showers this morning, the sun and temperatures are rising in Sharon.

The summer of 2012's second heat wave is expected to start today, the National Weather Service in Taunton reports.

Three straight days of at least 90 degrees is a heat wave. The season's first heat wave started last Wednesday, the first day of summer, and ended last Friday.

Today's high temperature should hit 94 degrees, according to the weather service's website.

Sharon should hit the same mark Saturday, the weather service says. Sunday should be a touch cooler, 92 degrees.

The forecast for Tuesday -- when Sharon holds its Independence Day festivities and fireworks -- is for mostly sunshine, with daytime temperatures around 84 degrees, dropping to 61 degrees at night.
